Home Learning

We have been enjoying listening to some very persuasive speeches over the last 2 weeks.

We will look closely at the information we have been given by others in the class about our speeches through the form on our blog.

On Monday some of us will be sharing our speeches to the whole school. From there, some children will be selected to share their speeches at the Inter school speech competition on Wednesday the 9th of June at Maungaraki School. Exciting stuff!

So...... our home learning aspect of our speeches will be at an end for many of us.

Home learning next week is to share something that others would benefit knowing using google apps! Think hard.
What do you know that others would benefit knowing and how could google apps help you communicate this? Remember to share your information with Mrs Campbell and as many class members as you would like.

Really looking forward to seeing what you all create.

Young Leaders Day

Today Mrs Campbell, Mrs Prichard and some Year 5 and 6 children experienced something a little different.

We went to the Young Leaders Day at St James Theatre. There were 1300 other people there and we all have taken away some ideas to think about.

We will share some of the the messages that have stuck with us but here are a few pics for now.

Mrs C is working hard and learning lots

Hey Savvy 7!
I am really doing my home learning at the moment. I am a newbie in the world of wikis. I have signed up to be part of an online learning course that will make me a bit of a wiki master , I hope! Here is a pic of my home page at the moment, as you can see I have plenty to learn.

I am hoping that wikis will allow us to tap into lots of ideas from outside our school. It is an open source system which means others can change and enhance your creations. Should be interesting.

I am at the moment trying to make a wiki lesson that will help me teach you how to start your e portfolios and anyone else can also view my lesson plan. Maybe I will be able to use a lesson plan that someone else has created. How cool is that.

Anyway, off to do my home learning.

See you all tomorrow and lots of us are off on our Young Leaders Day so will return to school with many gems of information I am sure.

Don't be late for our early start.

Your chance to book in your speech time

A document has been shared with you to book a time to present your speech.
Go to your google docs to view this.

Make sure you only add your name.

Maybe you could work back wards to ensure you have done the following things before your big day.

1. Discussed a suitable topic with someone at home and with Mrs Campbell at school
2. Collected enough information to write a speech on your chosen topic.
3. Edited your speech, check it carefully and have someone else check it too.
4. Time your speech, you are aiming for a 2 minute speech.
5. Practiced your speech and made any props you might require.
